Unlike his siblings, Finch learned how to turn on the charm at an early age. His current irresistible trick is to look up at you, tilt his head to the side, open his eyes wide, and say, “Do you want to pway twains (play trains) wif me?” And then—I swear—he flutters his eyelids. I don’t know where he learned that, but he does it.
So I got down on the wood floor and played trains as long as my knees could take it. Then I leaned back and told Finch he would have to push my train because I was tired. “You tired, Mommy?” “Yes, I’m tired.” He rooted around for a big stuffed dog. “Here. This make you feel better….You feel better now Mommy?” “Yes, this makes me feel better.” “Then come pway twains wif me!!!”

Oh, he is a charmer all right. We don’t stand a chance with him; but what fun!
