Rear Window #1

A construction project is going on this morning. Nick had made a neat pile of some extra landscaping timbers in the back corner of the yard. I glanced out the window and saw Finch rolling them off the top of the stack, one by one. I started to go out and stop what I thought was mere destructive behavior when I realized he was only doing his assigned task. When each timber came to a stop, Wilson looked it over carefully (checking for ants or other critters, I presume) while Marianne stayed safely back. When he gave the all clear, he and Marianne each grabbed an end of the board and staggered to the playground, where they were building some sort of deck under the baby swing. I couldn’t bear to interrupt such an organized effort. This IS part of homeschooling, you know. Everybody gets an “O” for Working Together today.

So, is it just a coincidence that we read detailed instructions on how to build a log cabin in “Little House on the Prairie” last night?

  2. Leah Says:

Yeah you remember what happened to Ma when they build the log cabin don’t you?

BTW, your backyard looks like a fun place to play!

  3. PapaDaddy Says:

Looks like they gave Warren Finch the dangerous end of the job. Was Wilson or Marianne giving the orders? At least they didn’t take a hatchet and cut out notches to fit the pieces. Hey I still want you to put the ‘Finch spitting up’ video on Youtube or at least somewhere on this blog.

  4. Patricia Says:

Hey, maybe if you give them some real lumber, they will finish the play fort.

  5. Nick Says:

    No that’s low…really low.

  6. Dana Says:

I think you got the hang of commenting, mom…

One good belly laugh for Thursday morning! When they finish constructing the play fort, they can come over and put up the play tent at my house.
