To jump or not to jump

On our second swimming outing on a cool day, Wilson stood by the edge of the pool, contemplating whether he should jump in.  Everybody knows that’s the best way to get acclimated to cold water—even if everybody doesn’t have the nerve to do it *cough*—so I started chanting, “Wilson! Wilson!” to encourage him to jump.  He bent over and began swinging his arms as if he was about to dive and everyone joined in the chant, “Wilson! Wilson!”  Then he straightened up and grinned.  “I’m not going to jump.  I just like being the center of attention.”
