Really, officer, I was just along for the ride…

One night when Nick was away on a work trip and I was just about wiped out from a busy day, the kids got into a royal screaming match when they should have been brushing their teeth.

The three of them were having a tug-of-war with the bathroom door and there were many lovely accompanying noises.

I called them downstairs to get the story.  We finally boiled it down to:  Wilson was looking for his wallet in the bathroom.  Marianne didn’t want him to go into the bathroom.

Finch had participated enthusiastically in the door-pushing, but I couldn’t figure out why he was even involved since he didn’t have anything to do with either the wallet or the bathroom.

When I asked him, he smiled broadly and boasted, “I saw Marianne trying to open the door, so I came and helped her!  I didn’t even know why I was doing it!!”  He was very proud of his contribution.

It’s always good to do a periodic character evaluation.

Sounds like today’s politicians–jumping in the fray without knowing what’s going on!

I love the sensation of seeing the wheels turn in those little heads.
